Revolution at Krakow’s Tourist Fairs

The whole world within reach, nearly 100 exhibitors. Turkey, Slovakia, Egypt, Greece, Germany, Tunis, Cyprus,  Sri Lanka presented the amenities of their countries. Enthusiasts of our Polish beauty spots saw the presentation of the following Polish regions: Małopolska, pomorskie, lubuskie, lubelskie, świętokrzyskie, podkarpackie, śląskie, Drawskie Lake District, Iławskie Lake District, the Kaszuby Region, Sława and Żnin. A wide range of offers of holidays of your dreams  in Poland or abroad was presented by the representatives of tourist agencies and tour operators from ,among others, Triada, Oasis, Itaka, Orbis, Consortium of the Polish Travel Agencies.

All presentations were delivered in one place during the 18th Krakow’s Tourist Fairs which were held from the 4th to the 6th of April 2008 in the Tennis Court Hall of Bronisław Czech Academy of Physical Education in Krakow.
The Fairs became a great opportunity, which has always been the case, to get acquainted with new, original destination points and to compare a wide range of holiday trips. Moreover,  it offered  a possibility to purchase them at reduced prices. Visitors who appeared in large numbers could not feel disappointed and crowded at the stalls of tour operators offering holidays at half a regular price.

Additional attractions such as: seminars, trainings, reviews and tourist films shows presenting attractions of some remote tourist spots in the world  were also included in the programme of the fairs and managed to gather people curious about the world and fascinated with travelling.
A special interest was aroused by Saturday traveller’s presentations which were prepared by Aslema Tourist Agency from Warsaw and were titled The Great South of Tunis-An International Sahara Festival, Southern India and Ethiopia- the churches of Lalibela and the Timkat holiday.
An Encounter with Ireland took place on Saturday and Sunday and was prepared and conducted by Krzysztof Schramm- Chairman of the Polish and Irish Association and the Foundation of the Irish Culture and by his wife Justyna Mazurek-Schramm- Chairman of the Irish Tourism Chamber – Tourism Ireland in Poland. Mrs. and Mr. Schramm are the authors of guide books about Ireland published by Pascal Publishing House.
A very significant discussion connected with  business tourism activities was held during the Friday seminar organised by the Association Conferences and Congresses in Poland and was titled Seven cardinal sins of business tourism in Poland- branch dialogue with a message. Chairman Irena Sokołowska and the general secretary Sławomir Wróblewski conducted the meeting.
Tourist branch was also present during the Friday evening meeting of exhibitors in the Zalesie Farm  in Grajów near Wieliczka where the organisers celebrated 15 years of existence of the Krakow’s Tourist Fairs.

The First Spring Family Picnic accompanied by the spring grill party and numerous outdoor attractions  directed to everyone who visited the Fairs at that spring weekend was held from the 5th to the 6th of April 2008 on the green belt premises of the Academy of Physical Education surrounding the fair hall.
This is not everything! There were also interesting prizes. A journey to Prague was the main prize which was funded by the Tour Operator- Arion Agency from Krakow and it was awarded to one of the 5000 participants of the Fairs, as well as, many other attractive prizes such as: a weekend stay in the Kłodzka Valley/ Consortium of the Polish Travel Agencies of Łódz, participation in the Great May Picnic in Słowacki Raj, a course for the Krakow City Tour Guides, a course for travel guides, courses for children camps supervisors/ Gaudeamus Agency from Krakow/,  beautiful travellers’ albums by Elżbieta Dzikowska and Jarosław Kret with original autographs of the authors ( Pascal Publishing House from Bielsko-Biała), golf courses and shooting courses at sports rifle-range ( Krakow Valley Golf& Country Club, Krzeszowice) and promotional sets connected with the Chrzanów district . The lucky persons left the Academy of Physical Education not only with an idea for their own holidays but also with interesting prizes.

The event was held under the Honourable Patronage of: the Marshall of the Małopolska Region, Voivode of the Małopolska Region, the President of the Krakow City, the Provost  of Bronisław Czech Academy of Physical Education in Krakow, the Polish Tourist Organisation, the Małopolska Region Tourist Organisation, Krakow’s Tourist Chamber, Chamber of Commerce in Krakow, Association Conferences and Congresses in Poland.
